Whole Foods Market
Description:
Whole Foods Market was founded in 1980 in Austin, Texas. Now they are the world’s leader in natural and organic foods, with more than 270 stores in North America and the United Kingdom. Whole Foods Market seeks out the finest natural and organic foods available, maintains the strictest quality standards in the industry and is firmly committed to sustainable agriculture.
When it came time to find a casework partner for their new store in Los Altos, they chose Mission Bell. As a local manufacturer of quality casework and one of the only millwork companies in Northern California certified by the Forest Stewardship Council for Chain of Custody, Mission Bell was positioned to be a valuable partner.* Extensive casework throughout the store includes:
- Curved floral display with granite top and two radiused cascades clad with bead rolled aluminum
- Dark stained Lyptus wine cabinets
- Self Service Pastry shelves
- Bakery Cabinets of Lyptus with inset glass doors
- Whole Body Island, vitamin shelves, and cosmetics cabinets
- Lyptus Coffee Bar with granite tops
- Customer Service Desk and condiments Counter of Lyptus and green granite
- Demo Kitchen Island of Plain Sliced Maple and granite counter top
- Various Meat and Salami cabinets and pie shaped case wedges with granite tops
- Specialty End Caps for Wine made from dark stained Lyptus.
* While this project was neither FSC Certified nor LEED – a high priority was given to using Green Materials and handling all aspects of the project in an environmentally responsible way. This strategy is sometimes referred to as “Shadow LEED”.
