Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation
Description:
The vision of the Moore Foundation is to create positive outcomes for future generations by investing in partnerships to achieve significant results in environmental conservation, and science in the San Francisco Bay Area. For this reason when it came time to build a new headquarters facility, achieving LEED Platinum Certification was a high priority.
Mission Bell teamed early in the process with Blach Construction and HPS Architects using BIM to build a stunning project that includes many recycled and reclaimed materials. The unique ‘flying beam’ design, glass bridge, and undulating recycled timber beams that help define the “Moore Path” harmonize beautifully with the aim to communicate their goal to improve the quality of life for future generations. The use of Kirei board cabinets and Vetrazzo countertops in the breakroom and many other features underscore the Moore Foundation’s desire to be good stewards of our environmental resources. This is a complex and challenging project that really turned out beautifully.
